About Phil

“As an engineer, I have always been fascinated with building things. This fuelled my passion for home design and renovation and ultimately my love for Real Estate. This is a second career for me. After over 30 years in the telecommunications industry, I decided to pursue my passion for Real Estate. After a few ‘less than stellar’ experiences with other Realtors in the past, I knew that I could do better! And now, as an established Realtor, the majority of my focus and attention is with my existing client base, whether that be working with a young couple on the purchase of their first home, or with repeat clients looking to downsize as they become empty nesters. And I believe that there is no greater complement or thrill than getting a call from someone who has been referred to you by a previous client! ” - Phil Laxdal

After graduated from the University of Toronto in 1982 with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Phil embarked on a long career as a telecommunications executive up until his retirement in 2013. He also attended the Western Executive Program at the Ivey School of Business. His education combined with his business experience has helped him to develop a broad base of skills, from customer service to marketing and market analytics, and from business strategy to communications (especially listening). Phil is also a Certified Negotiations Expert with extensive training and practical experience. Best of all, the skills that he has worked so hard to hone throughout his previous career were readily transferrable and now serving him well in Real Estate.

Phil feels truly honoured by the trust his clients put in him in helping them navigate what can be a very stressful, intimidating, and overwhelming process. His objective is to provide his clients with the guidance and information they need to make the best possible real estate decisions.

Phil feels that real estate is more about people and relationships than it is about simply buying and selling a house. He believes that he is blessed to work in an industry that he is so passionate about and to have the opportunity to work with such incredible clients and colleagues every day.

Phil was born and raised in southern Etobicoke. He was married to his wife Patty in 1989 and moved to the Newmarket area in 1996 where they raised their two girls; both of whom have built their own successful careers in the community. In his spare time, Phil enjoys taking on challenging home renovations, playing golf whenever possible, and pretending that he can play the guitar. But most of all, he values spending time with his family and friends.
